Human Resources Advisor

Northview Apartment REIT is growing, and so is our Human Resources team!

Description: The HR Advisor plays a key role in providing day to day and strategic HR support and leadership. This role requires an individual who is well versed in a number of functional HR competencies and can partner with line managers, employees and HR team members to identify issues and opportunities, influence change and impact organizational effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a full range of human resources services to line managers and employees by partnering with client groups to understand operational needs; obtaining feedback for program design and creating HR solutions appropriate to their business
  • Provide input into strategies, policies, procedures and HR initiatives that will ensure corporate objectives are met
  • Enable leaders to manage performance of their teams and facilitate effective resolution of employee relations matters
  • Coach line managers on attraction, recruitment and selection best practices and participate in the recruitment process where appropriate
  • Develop and coordinate job postings and external advertisements using Northview's Applicant Tracking System
  • Leverage ATS functionality for pre-screening, selection, onboarding, tracking, reporting and documentation
  • Support the on-boarding process including preparing employment contracts/offer letters and enrolment documents
  • Educate and assist with legislation and compliance issues and work to mitigate risk
  • Advise leaders on employee performance issues, development opportunities, disciplinary process and exit planning
  • Provide the tools and education necessary for performance development, retention, succession planning and attrition
  • Lead the projects related to onboarding of talent through internalizations and acquisitions
  • Develop and complete metrics and analytics
  • Coordinate annual compensation survey participation including collecting and submitting data
  • Assist with annual compensation cycle including preparing salary and bonus documentation and streamlining the process
  • Coach and mentor more junior employees

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business or other related discipline and 4 – 8 years’ related experience as an HR generalist or equivalent with direct experience supporting field or remote client groups
  • CPHR designation preferred
  • Real estate/property management industry related experience an asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint)
  • Experience in managing/administering applicant tracking systems
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain key relationships with stakeholders
  • Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills
  • A dynamic, results-oriented professional who enjoys working in a team environment

  • Demonstrated ability to positively influence others
  • Demonstrates business acumen
  • Some travel to regions may be required
