Maintenance Supervisor

Location: Dawson Creek

Description: Northview’s maintenance Supervisors are critical to our delivery of world class customer service in our buildings that depict pride of ownership and respect for our residents. While following our Health and Safety requirements, our Maintenance Supervisors will not only have working knowledge of plumbing, electrical and flooring they will also have the proven ability to be a motivated person with exceptional leadership and customer service skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely and efficiently maintain all buildings and property in line with company standards and instructions
  • Supervision and performance management of maintenance and cleaning staff in line with company standards and instructions, ensuring that on call employee hours are reasonable and correctly documented
  • Fill in for the head or CapEx supervisor in their absence
  • Lead by example and enforce the completion of daily notes (time and activity tracking sheet) by creating and delivering necessary reports to the Regional Property Manager, including but not limited to outstanding work orders, and out of ordinary events
  • Maintain an inventory of materials, ensuring supplies and materials are made available as cost effectively as possible, including monitoring major material use with the renovations team
  • Meet with staff to discuss work order status, distribute new work orders and establish priorities and daily goals and ensuring completed work orders are processed appropriately, including weekly tool box meetings
  • Arranging for quotes, preparing estimates and overseeing subcontract labour
  • Check that safety footwear and eyewear is in worn by all maintenance and renovation staff
  • Ensure WHMIS sheets are available in appropriate locations
  • Ensure tools and materials are in safe working condition
  • Conduct scheduled tours of the exterior of the building, mechanical and common areas, as well as attics and crawl spaces 
  • Monitor fuel use per vehicle/employee by keeping weekly fuel and mileage logs
  • Conduct monthly pre-move out inspections with leasing agents
  • Where required, participate in monthly meetings with Head Cleaner, Maintenance Administrator and Regional Property Manager
  • Assist in the cost-effective operation of the region by working to reduce or eliminate overtime, and provide input on how to minimize costs for the next year’s budget
  • Walk with Regional Property Manager on eviction dates
  • Other duties as assigned by the Regional Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Three years’ experience in performing residential or building maintenance duties
  • At least three years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Able to work independently, is a self-starter and takes pride in a job well done
  • Proven ability to work productively and safely while under pressure, with good time management
  • Good customer service skills and pleasant demeanor, and an ability to speak and write English fluently
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
